Last days in G.T hostel

It has been close to a year since I have been staying in the G.T Hostel.. For those who don't know about it, G.T (Graduate Trainee) hostel is where the fresh G.Ts joining Tata Steel are put up. The G.T Hostel occupies a very special place in every G.T's heart.

I remember, it was the 30th of june, when I arrived in Jamshedpur and then came here. Every other guy that I came across, over here, was a character of some sort or other. Then, I thought to myself, "theek hai..ek saal ki baat, kaat lenge". But, today when we people are about to leave the hostel, its the last thing I would like to do. In these 12 months, the kind of friendship and camaraderie that has developed amongst us, is inexplicable.

It was like 25 guys following the same daily routine. Be it sleeping in the training classes, bunking classes, playing, driving down to the mango bridge or railway station in the midnight or watching movies in a dilapidated theatre that looks more like a PWD dept. office, we were always together. The corridors used to echo with voices like, "kutton", "laundon CS", "Maa ka *******","kisi ke paas sutta hai?", and GPLs without reason were a common sight

And yes, the G.T hostel has been the venue of some of the most exciting and intoxicating parties I have ever been a part of. Bas ek kami reh gayi, koi dhang ki ladki nahin rahi kabhi iss hostel mein... There are many other incidents which I can't mention in this post, but I am sure when any of my fellow GTs goes through this, the memories will flash through his mind. In a sleepy town like Jamshedpur, I don't know wat life would have been without the G.T Hostel.. But, now when we ppl are all set to move out of this place, its hard to imagine life outside the hostel...

And the reason why I am writing this, is because today when Rajat(a fellow G.T) left the hostel, the conscious thought that we are going to leave the hostel came to my mind for the first time.
