Life on the slow track

It's been more than two months, since I posted something here. Well, speaking honestly, if I say I was busy, then I would be lying. Actually, I could not understand what to write about. Nothing exciting has happened in my life for the past two to three months. But, I wanted to write something today. Considering the derth of topics and my passion of Bollywood, I have decided to write a review of OSO (this might tell you, what exactly has been happening of me).

I watched OSO, here in Jamshedpur in a theatre that has nothing except the screen and the roof and I am not exaggerating. From the promos, I could make out that it was going to be fulltu masala movie and so I had left my mind back home(which I hardly carry). But from the very first scene the movie gripped me. I understand, a lot of you must have started thinking whether I actually have a mind or not and some of my friends will stop visiting my blogspot after reading this. But I can't help but like the movie.I was kicked like a pig when I asked some of my friends to go and watch the movie again.

The reason why the movie touched me so much was because it was all about dreams. I understand I am sounding philosophical, but yes. And the lines uttered by Shahrukh when he gets the best actor award, for a moment made me to believe that it actually happens. Although I had read those lines earlier in "The alchemist", but the effect was never so profounding.

Anyways, I won't recommend this movie to anyone, but if you are feeling low and want to know what actually touches the hearts of the masses (OSO was the highest grosser in bollywood last year), then borrow a CD and watch it.

Tata Crucible @ Jamshedpur

The Jamshedpur round of Tata Crucible quiz commenced yesterday. As Jamshedpur does not have a very good quizzing crowd I was not expecting a great quiz, but believe me it was one of the best quizzes I have ever witnessed. And all credit goes to quizmaster Giri Balasubramanian "Pickbrain". Life In a Metro

Well, a lot of my friends had been suggesting me to watch "Life In a Metro", but it was only last week that I somehow borrowed the DVD and watched it. Excellent movie!!!After a long time, a Hindi movie has pleased me so much that I have watched it twice, after the first time.

The best thing about the movie is that, it showcases the various kinds of relationships that have now become a common phenomenon in the big cities, in a way that suggests the basis of the relationships. And its true.

Nobody intentionally wants to hurt someone. People enter into the so-called unapproved relationships only in the search of happiness and some kind of an emotional support. In the pursuit of earning more, they forget their families and when their emotional needs and the family's don't match, they try to find this somewhere else. Moreover, in this rat race people forget to make and maintain friends, and at the end of the day curse their loneliness.
At one place in the movie, Irfan Khan says, " Yeh sahar humein jitna deta hai, usse kahin zyada humse chhin leta hai". This is what people have to understand and make a call. It's not wrong to aspire for money or a better life style, but if u r doing it at the expense of ur social relations, then its ur decision and better stand by it.

Talking about the movie, the music by Pritam is rocking. So, those who haven't watched it yet, go watch it.

The capital of Bihar

I have been in Jharkhand for the past five years and in this part of the country, Patna is one place, about which every person has a different opinion. I had never got a chance to visit this city, which is of immense historical and political significance, until last Sunday.

History books say, Paliputra(now, Patna) used to be the capital of the Mauryan dynasty, which under the rule of King Ashoka had the whole of India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan under its belt. Today, newspapers say, Patna ranks first in corruption, crime and is probably one of the most underdeveloped state capitals in this country. My friends say, its one city which has produced the highest number of IAS officers, IITians, Railway Ministers, criminals and where everything starting from cows to arms are traded. These all inputs just kept on increasing my eagerness to visit this city.

Last saturday, when two of my friends who are from Patna were about to leave for their homes, me and two others decided to join them. We caught a bus at around 6.30 pm and reached Patna at 5.30 am, the next day. I spent a whole day in Patna visiting places like Kumrahar, the place where remains of the Mauryan empire were found; Akal Takht, the birthplace of Guru Gobind Singh; Gol Ghar, a huge granary built in 1798 which could never be used because of some design faults, etc. But most importantly, had a good look at the city.

Having seen the city, now I realize why there is so much talk about the city and the people of the city. Patna, is a big city with people from all parts of Bihar coming in here for education, trade, jobs, etc. There is nothing intrinsically wrong about the city. Actually, the caste based politics in this state is the prime deterrent in the path of its progress. Successive governments supporting specific classes of the society instead of working for the society as a whole has led to rampant corruption on one hand and frustration amongst the youngsters on the other. These two things coupled together have given Patna its present shape and people have now lost hope. Its high time that the people themselves take charge and try to change the things.

Last days in G.T hostel

It has been close to a year since I have been staying in the G.T Hostel.. For those who don't know about it, G.T (Graduate Trainee) hostel is where the fresh G.Ts joining Tata Steel are put up. The G.T Hostel occupies a very special place in every G.T's heart.
I remember, it was the 30th of june, when I arrived in Jamshedpur and then came here. Every other guy that I came across, over here, was a character of some sort or other. Then, I thought to myself, "theek hai..ek saal ki baat, kaat lenge". But, today when we people are about to leave the hostel, its the last thing I would like to do. In these 12 months, the kind of friendship and camaraderie that has developed amongst us, is inexplicable.
It was like 25 guys following the same daily routine. Be it sleeping in the training classes, bunking classes, playing, driving down to the mango bridge or railway station in the midnight or watching movies in a dilapidated theatre that looks more like a PWD dept. office, we were always together. The corridors used to echo with voices like, "kutton", "laundon CS", "Maa ka *******","kisi ke paas sutta hai?", and GPLs without reason were a common sight
And yes, the G.T hostel has been the venue of some of the most exciting and intoxicating parties I have ever been a part of. Bas ek kami reh gayi, koi dhang ki ladki nahin rahi kabhi iss hostel mein... There are many other incidents which I can't mention in this post, but I am sure when any of my fellow GTs goes through this, the memories will flash through his mind. In a sleepy town like Jamshedpur, I don't know wat life would have been without the G.T Hostel.. But, now when we ppl are all set to move out of this place, its hard to imagine life outside the hostel...
And the reason why I am writing this, is because today when Rajat(a fellow G.T) left the hostel, the conscious thought that we are going to leave the hostel came to my mind for the first time.

Mere chacha ki shaadi...

Hello everybody... After a good 10 days vacation, I am back to work. I had been to Balasore(a coastal district in Orissa), my village to attend my uncle's wedding. Well, he was my dad's youngest brother.
I was visiting my village after two years. When I was a kid I used to go there twice a year, but after I joined college I could hardly find time to go there. Actually, I could have found time, but I just didn't feel like goin there. I don't know why... My uncle and aunty who stay there, love me a lot and everytime they call me, the first thing that they ask is "When r u coming?".
But this time with all my relatives and cousins, I had a fantastic time. No hurries, no hassles, I felt like a kid after a long long time. I caught up with some of my cousins and relatives whom I hadn't seen for years. Although I am a 22 yr old guy now, but in their eyes I was still a kid and their affection compelled me to think certain things which I had never thought before.
Lately, I have been thinking a lot about my career, my job, my salary..but an interesting thing that I discovered was that, for those who matter the most to me, these things don't matter. People of our generation(like me), keep on hankering for money, fame and in the process forget the actual meaning of relationships. I am not saying that one should not go for these things, but that balance is very necessary. Mine is a joint family and I am happy to be a part of it. My dad has five brothers and the kind of bonding they share is something u hardly find in this age. The only reason why this joint family has existed is- mutual respect amongst the brothers. Ok, I am going too much into relationships. Coming back to chacha ki shaadi, the good news is that, the next man in line is me....

First post

Hi, everybody. I don't know how many people will ever visit this, but for those who have already come here, let me tell you this spot is going to be the next big thing on the web. It is going to be a cornucopia, a storehouse of all knowledge, information, fundas and gyan.
Okay... lets get serious, it took me 4 months, from january to may..to decide on the name of my blogspot, becoz after all its the name that matters( actually, I was in a deep slumber from january till yesterday). After joining Tata Steel in july, last year I had thought of doing something constructive, because here you get a lot of spare time and probably that is the reason why all the UPSC aspirants prefer this company to the high paying MNCs. But old habbits are hard to be parted with and laziness is like the one word that describes me the best or to put it otherwise I think I am the pictorial reference to the word "lazy". And sleeping comes naturally to me, so from july till jan the only thing that I did other than sleeping in the training classes and in my room was playing. I had stopped playing during my XI standard, because I had to study for the engg entrances and all, but instead of studying I ended up watching all the hindi movies that were released that year and the next year. I think I was lucky enough to get into BIT Mesra, which was anyday more than wat I deserved. I think I am deviating frm wat I intended to say. Lets be back in Tata Steel. Now, after joining my dept. in january, the playing thing stopped and in the office I had no work other than refreshing my orkut homepage after every 60 secs. Then, I had thought of starting a blog, and look its 10th may today.
By now, you must have realized wat kind of a blog its going to be and wat crap is going to be posted here. But, I promise I will try writing something more meaningful next time. And yes, I would like to thank Smarak ( the UPSC aspirant), who taught me how to edit the layout and other stuff in a blog.
